Experienced V8 Supercar driver to oversee drivers in emerging category
FORMER Bathurst 24 Hour winner Cameron McConville has been appointed Driving Standards Advisor for the Kumho Tyres Australian V8 Touring Car Series.
The highly experienced Victorian driver becomes the first ‘DSA’ appointed to the Kumho Series –run for ex-V8 Supercars - since it began in 2008.
McConville will dovetail the role with his driving standards work with the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, which like the Kumho Series, races on the Shannons Nationals program of events.

Television
Television coverage constitutes a core component of the sponsorship strategy. The V8TC category takes 20 minutes of television time on SBS Speedweek/Fox Speed Channel as part of the Shannons Nationals requirements.
Speedweek is shown on SBS on Sunday afternoons at 12.30pm, and it attracts an audience of around 150,000 viewers. The Shannons Nationals show and Inside Speed are also shown on Fox Speed Channel. The program is also distributed via the international Motors cable TV syndication.
THE KUMHO Tyres V8 Touring Car Series will feature in its own, dedicated, one-hour television program on Australia’s new home of motorsport – SPEED.
In addition to its existing television package of coverage on the AVE-produced ‘Speedweek’ on SBS and ‘Inside SPEED’ on SPEED, all six rounds of the 2012 Kumho Series will now have a stand-alone, one-hour program dedicated to each round of the championship.
An expansion of the coverage shown on ‘Speedweek’ and ‘Inside SPEED’, the dedicated Kumho Series programs on SPEED – produced by AVE - will feature increased race coverage and additional colour stories.
The deal is the latest step forward for the growing category as the series approaches the beginning of its fifth season.
The Sunday racing at each round is also streamed live on the Internet by logging on to www.itvlive.com.au
