Whizz Kid Sweeps Ipswich Round

He was able to re-join after a Safety Car period but finished three laps down and ninth overall.

Rullos Queensland round win has moved him to within just five points of series leader McAdam with two rounds left to go.

It was Rullos second round win in a row after his break-through victory at Winton (as a 14-year-old) a few months ago.

McAdams results were enough to give him second for the weekend despite his Race 3 dramas with Sydney driver Jim Pollicina third for the round and top-finishing privateer.

18-year-old McAdam did set a new V8 Touring Car series lap record in Race 2 (1m12.7107s) something of a consolation after having his series lead sliced across the weekend.

Poco Commodore driver Steve Briffa finished fourth overall for the round overcoming a Race 2 grid penalty of five positions for a parc ferme infringement at the end of the previous race.

Melbourne driver Matt Palmer finished fifth overall for the weekend highlighted by finishing runner-up to round winner Rullo in the final race.

Local driver Jason Heck driving his ex-Ford Performance Racing Falcon in period Cobra colours from 2007 seized the lead of Race 3 after the lap one contact between Rullo and McAdam.

Perth teenager Jake Kostecki attacked Heck on the restart and sliced down the inside into turn three only to run off the road unable to make the corner.

A short while later he ran off the road at turn one and was one of four drivers including Heck to fail to finish the final race of the weekend.

Heck was running second with just two laps to go but spun off into the turn one sand trap and kissed goodbye to his best result in the Kumho Series since making his debut at the start of this season.

Steven Devjak finished sixth for the round from Chris Smerdon Kostecki and Brendan Strong with a total of 14 cars competing over the course of the weekend in the round.

The Queensland Raceway round of the Kumho Series will be telecast on SBS Speedweek on Sunday August 30.

The next round of the Kumho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series will be held at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on September 19/20.
