The Hazelbrook realtor had come through a trouble-free qualifying session to gain tenth spot for the first race as well as an opportunity to gain further points in the Time Attack single lap shootout.

“Our fuel issues from the past two rounds had been resolved and it was all looking great he said. “But I seemed to have this great knack of finding new things to go wrong.

Into turn one off the start of the ten-lap race a front brake locked on while the car was accelerating and resulted in a blown tyre. He was able to get make to the pits to effect repairs but lost a lap in the process and finished a lap down.

“Something also happened to the power steering at the time the car just didnt want to turn into the corners Delfsma said. “I had to back off a bit more than usual but we still had good pace.

Earlier in the meeting the Century 21 Falcon was three seconds faster in qualifying than at the comparable meeting last year. “But what I thought would be good enough for a top five spot was actually the tenth fastest time thats how far the category has progressed he added.

Delfsmas time of 1 minute 35.8678 seconds was just 1.6secs off the pole time and in Time Attack he finished eighth after being the first out and the pioneer on a track that had seen rain and would test the best. After the pit visit in the race the Century 21 Falcon finished thirteenth.
