Wyhoon Dominates Race 2 & 3 Sandown

Conditions were still far from ideal on Sunday with teams forced to watch the impending weather on the internet to plan out a strategy with experience always likely to be the key. Whilst Wyhoon was quick it was local Commodore pilot Shaun Fennell who grabbed the lead off the start of race two holding it before a slight off on lap four allowed Wyhoon through to the lead after the Gippsland-based driver had taken Smerdon in the early laps. Stephen Voight (Voight Contracting VY Commodore) too was moving forward the New South Welshman taking third at the flag behind Wyhoon and Smerdon with Scott Loadsman (Beautiful Tiles VY Commodore) and the impressive Bruce Heinrich (Heinrich Performance AU Falcon) close behind.

Wyhoon enjoyed a strong start in the final race to lead Smerdon Loadsman Jim Pollicina (Poll Performance VY Commodore) and the impressive Aaron Tebb (Macarthur Truckserve VY Commodore) to the line the top five positions remaining the same throughout the ten lap journey.

Smerdon took the Round win and went to the top of the championship points table with one round remaining the South Australian (430 points) now 20 points up on title rival Wyhoon (410) with Loadsman another 29 points further back in third but with 133 points still on offer there’s still plenty of life left yet in this title battle!
