SHOWDOWNS IN THE WILD WEST
This year series leader Taz Douglas will battle young-gun Tyler Greenbury for the title setting up a winner take all finale between a Holden and a Ford for the third straight year.
In 2014 Eggleston Motorsports Justin Ruggier edged out the otherwise dominant Ryan Simpson in the final round of the year while last year it was the turn of Liam McAdam also driving an Eggleston Holden to edge out the Ford based Alex Rullo.
2016 marks the eighth year that the Kumho Series will have visited Sydney Motorsport Park and the circuit has produced incredibly varied results in its time hosting the series.
Seven different winners have won Kumho Series rounds at the venue and seven have scored pole positions as well.
The 2013 round stands out as perhaps the most memorable of the seven thanks to a remarkable weekend of racing that remain some of the most competitive races the series has ever staged.
The weekend saw an incredible start by Jim Pollicina who rocketed from eighth on the grid to take his ex-Tasman Motorsport Commodore to the lead by the first corner.
They Sydney driver has made a reputation for being amongst the best starters in the business and his incredible four-row climb in 400 meters was an incredible kick-off to a meeting that literally kicked off!

That race was won by Mackay driver Justin Garioch who also led lights-to-flag in the second race but it was the finale where things really got turned up to eleven.
The race was won by now-Supercars full-timer Shae Davies who was able to snare the lead after a stunning battle on the final lap that included Garioch Morgan Haber and Terry Wyhoon.
It remains one of the best battles in Kumho series history!
Of course lately Sydney Motorsport Park has been the scene of a pair of title deciders.
In 2014 the pressure was on Egglestons Justin Ruggier who had gradually pegged back the runaway series leader Ryan Simpson across the second half of a pulsating season.
The pair battled hard in Sydney but ultimately it was the former video gamer who came through to grab the win celebrating with some perfectly executed donuts at turn four as a bonus.
Fast forward twelve months and it was another Eggleston Car against another Falcon in the same situation.
Liam McAdam and Alex Rullo battled fiercely for the Kumho Series crown last year and at one point exchanged blows on track when they came together at Queensland Raceway.
The final round scenario was a winner-take-all proposition with McAdam holding the upper hand and he was able to maintain that throughout the weekend despite incredibly challenging conditions that at one point had racing stopped due to a torrential downpour.
McAdams win gave Eggleston back-to-back titles never before achieved in the Kumho Series to that point.
With the strongest field of the 2016 season entered for this weekends season finale a title battle between Holden and Ford and the fastest starting V8 driver in the business all on the grid it will be worth watching to see what this weekend has to offer when the Kumho Series returns to Sydneu Motorsport Park!
