JACOBSON ON POLE FOR SYDNEY FINALE

Josh Smith will start his Brad Jones Racing VE Commodore from second place in race one while title rivals Taz Douglas (third) and Tyler Greenbury (fourth) will start from the second row.

Douglas leads Greenbury by 98 points heading into the opening race of the weekend and needs only to finish in front of his young rival to seal his maiden Kumho Series title today.

On his return to the category former series champion Tony Evangelou qualified fifth with Bathurst-based driver Michael Anderson sixth.

Jim Pollicina qualified his ex-Tasman Motorsport Commodore seventh and will start alongside Kumho series debutant Jon McCorkindale – who will start his ex-Stone Brothers Falcon from eighth for his first Kumho Series start today.

Steve Briffa (Poco.com.au VZ Commodore) and Michael Caine completed the top-10.

Race one gets underway at 1:05pm this afternoon (AEDT) with live timing available at natsoft.com.au
