Jay Robotham takes win on debut in Super3 in Sydney
Jaylyn Robotham has claimed an outstanding debut victory in the Super3 Series at Sydney Motorsport Park this evening.
After claiming pole position in the Super3 class and starting eighth on the grid, the 17-year-old enjoyed a faultless 18 lap race, eventually coming home eighth overall and just 13.4s off the leading Super2 cars.
Robotham is driving the sole MW Motorsport Falcon FG in the field, while his team also has three cars in the Super2 field.
Second place went to Declan Fraser, ahead of Brendan Strong, Madeline Stewart, Jack Sipp and Jason Gomersall.
Jon McCorkindale had fluid spewing from the rear of his Falcon, causing Jim Pollicina to spin while running fourth in class. McCorkindale was unable to finish the race.
James Masterton, driving his ex-Paul Morris Motorsport Commodore VE, didn’t have a debut to remember, with a mechanical issue ruling him out early in the race.
Qualifying will be held at 11:35am tomorrow local time, ahead of the second and final 18 lap race at 1:45pm.
