McCorkindale and Fraser top times in first day of Mount Panorama practice

Jon McCorkindale and Declan Fraser have topped the times in the opening two practice sessions for the Super3 Series at Mount Panorama today.

The two Falcon drivers finished the sessions with comfortable margins over their rivals as the field comes up to speed around the famous Bathurst, NSW circuit.

In the first session, McCorkindale used his rich Bathurst experience to finish on top, ahead of Fraser and opening round dominator Jaylyn Robotham – all three in Ford Falcons.

Jim Pollicina was fourth and the best of the Holden Commodore drivers, just ahead of two more Fords in David Murphy and Mark Tracey.

James Masterton brought out the one and only red flag period of the first practice session when he lost control of his Commodore at Reid Park, clouting the outside wall. The car could not be repaired for the second session and has been withdrawn from the event.

In Practice 2, Fraser edged out Robotham, with McCorkindale third and an improved Brendan Strong (Holden Commodore VE) in fourth.

Robotham endured a heavy crash across the top of the mountain, with MW Motorsport working to repair the car for tomorrow.

The next time the Super3 cars are on track, alongside the Super2 cars, will be for qualifying tomorrow at 11:35am AEDT.
