McCarthy leads the way in Super3 Practice

After two practice sessions in the leadup to the final round of Dunlop Super2, Reef McCarthy chalked up the fastest time.

His 2 minutes 10.7913 second lap came just before the second session was declared due to an accident to a Super2 Nissan on the top of the Mt Panorama.

McCarthy had a troubled first outing with a couple of offs at the Chase before being sidelined on Mountain Straight with a puncture, but rebounded in practice two.

Behind the Image Racing Ford Falcon FG driver was Blake Fardell in a Holden Commodore VE.

Fardell was the pacesetter throughout first practice and most of the second before being pipped in the end.

Series points leader Nash Morris (Falcon FG) was third overall ahead of local Bathurst resident Michael Anderson (Falcon FG).

The latter was the quickest of the SC3 class ahead of fellow Ford driver David Murphy and Jim Pollicina whose Commodore VE underwent a clutch change between sessions.

Next was Tony Auddino in the older Falcon BF as the seventh fastest overall in front of Steven Page and Paul Boschert in VEs, Jason Foley (BF), James Masterton (VE), Gary Collins (VE) and Elly Morrow. Her VE did little in the first session due to a faulty engine sensor.
