McCarthy strikes in Super3 Season Finale’
After an engine failure cost him a result in race one, Image Racing’s Reef McCarthy rebounded to take out the final race of the season for Dunlop Super3.
In his Griffin Corporation Ford Falcon FG, he led the safety car interrupted race on Mt Panorama from start to finish to beat home Blake Fardell in his Muscle Car Warehouse Holden Commodore VE.
Third place went to newly-crowned Super3 champion Nash Morris aboard the Boost Mobile Falcon FG. Morris won race despite being another to swap engines overnight.
Due to the stoppages in the qualifying session two days ago, grid positions were determined off the combined practice times which had McCarthy on pole ahead of Fardell and Morris.
Fourth and second outright in the series, as well claiming the Super3 Trophy series, was Michael Anderson.
The Anderson Motorsport finished clear of Jim Pollicina (VE) and David Murphy (FG) who swapped places on two consecutive laps out of Griffin Bend.
Jason Foley (Falcon BF) won out in his battle with Steve Page and Paul Boschert in their Commodores. Unfortunately for Page his race ended with wall contact near the grate, where subsequent brake failure saw him plunge headlong into the tyre barrier at McPhillamy Park.
Elly Morrow (VE) finished ninth after a couple of moments at the Chase while James Masterton was a non-finisher when he parked up after five laps.
