Allen, Vaughan split by fractions in Perth practice one

LOCKED TOGETHER at the top of the Dunlop Super3 Series Standings, Kai Allen and Bradley Vaughan have picked up where they left off in the opening session at Wanneroo Raceway today.

Tied in points following the opening round in Sydney, Allen’s Eggleston Motorsport Commodore edged out Vaughan’s Anderson Motorsport Falcon by 0.022s in the first 40-minute session at the Perth circuit – showing their round one battle is likely to be continued this weekend.

RESULTS: Practice 1

Allen’s 57.0465s was good enough to put 13th of the combined Dunlop Super2 and Super3 field, with Vaughan right behind.

Looking to buy into that fight will be Mr HDT Race Cars’ driver Blake Fardell, who punched out a 57.14s best to end up third overall and just 0.1 seconds behind the two leaders.

Home town hero Garry Hills was fourth overall and first of the Super3 Cup runners, his 58.12s best putting him just one second behind the outright pace

Jason Gomsersall was fifth in his Matt Stone Racing-run Ford, with Jim Pollicina, Tony Auddino, Chris Smerdon, Steven Page and Gary Collins completing the top-10.

The Dunlop Super3 Series field will return for a second 40-minute hitout this afternoon at 3:20pm, local time.
