Bargwanna takes triple treat of Kumho poles

JUDE BARGWANNA has powered to his third consecutive pole position in the Kumho V8 Touring Car Series, grabbing the top spot for Round 3 of the series at Queensland Raceway on Friday afternoon.

Bargwanna banked a 1m11.652s flyer early in the 20-minute session, held in perfect, warm and sunny conditions at the Ipswich circuit.

That time wouldn’t be toppled throughout the session with the Anderson Motorsport Falcon driver holding on to take the top spot by just three-tenths of a second over regular 2023 rival, Jamie Tilley.

Tilley was in touch with Bargwanna throughout the session and will start his Notlaw Racing Falcon from the outside of the front row.

Ray Hislop qualified third, a further two-tenths behind Tilley and not far from making the front row in his ex-FPR Falcon.

A late flyer from the returning Jarred Danaher saw him make it four Fords in the top four as he put his Turbo Brisbane FG Falcon fourth late in the session.

He displaced Tony Auddino to get there, his 1m13.374s best on his final flyer enough to put him on the inside of the third row of the grid.

Jim Pollicina could manage only sixth aboard his Commodore and will look to make up positions early via his traditional fast starts.

Jason Foley and Shane Beikoff completed the runners ahead of what is set to be a competitive weekend for the series.

The first of three races will be held on Saturday morning as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries at Queensland Raceway, with the second and third races also shown live on Stan Sport.
