Schedules set for Sydney, Bathurst events

The schedules for next month’s Race Sydney and Supercheap Auto Bathurst International events have been confirmed.

A combined eight national categories will compete in the final two Shannons SpeedSeries rounds for 2023, with race fans to be treated to more than 40 hours of on-track action across the two events.

Both events include the Australian debut of the Kumho TCR World Tour and the return of International Touring Car Racing to the country for the first time in three decades.

Race Sydney will kick off the double-header for two days on 3-4 November before the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International runs as a traditional three-day event on 10-12 November.

Headlining both events will be Kumho TCR World Tour, which will see some of the best TCR drivers from around the world share the grid with Supercheap Auto TCR Australia for six 30-minute races across the two events.

The exciting category will see a slightly modified format for Race Sydney, with both its qualifying sessions to take place on Friday, setting the field for Race 1 under lights before rounding out the weekend with two more races on Saturday.

It will then shift to a more familiar format at the famous Mount Panorama, with practice on Friday, qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday, and the final two outings on Sunday.

 

Joining the combined TCR category at both events will be another Shannons SpeedSeries regular in the National Trans Am Series, who will undergo a four-race format for only the second time this year at Race Sydney before returning to its traditional three-race schedule for Bathurst.

Making up the Race Sydney schedule as part of Shannons SpeedSeries for the very first time this year will be Workhorse Radical Cup Australia, who will round out its 2023 season with four exciting races, while Series X3 New South Wales will add some local flavour to the event with five 20-minute races.

The following weekend, the Shannons SpeedSeries will welcome back Gulf Western Oil Touring Car Masters Series, who will introduce some international flavour of its own with the inclusion of seven Touring Car Masters New Zealand competitors.

The Trans-Tasman battle will span across three competitive races, plus the additional Trophy Race which will take place on Saturday morning.

 

It will also be a welcome return for Kumho V8 Touring Car Series, who will return for its fifth and final round of the 2023 season with three races around the mountain.

Rounding out Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will be Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia and the combined Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars and Monochrome Australia Production Invited.

The one-make Porsche category will run all its sessions during the first two days with practice, qualifying and Race 1 to take place on Friday before rounding out the weekend with two races on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Mobil 1 Australian Production Cars and Monochrome Australia Production Invited will have four races spread across the entire weekend, with the first two to take place on Saturday before completing its round with another two races on Sunday.

In addition to the racing action, fans in attendance will have a rare opportunity to witness some of the world’s most impressive open-wheel vehicles tackle the mountain across six demonstration sessions, while the Hot Wheels Stunt Team will showcase their skills during four thrilling displays across the Saturday and Sunday.
