McLeod to pilot former SVG Falcon in V8TC finale

The Kumho V8 Touring Car Series will welcome another young up-and-coming star at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International, with Queenslander Cameron McLeod to tackle the mountain in a former Stone Brothers Racing FG Falcon.

While previously owned and run by Bradley Neill in the Kumho Series, the striking blue Falcon is well known for its time in the Repco Supercars Championship where it was piloted by none-other than reigning champion, Shane van Gisbergen in 2012.

But come November, it will be McLeod’s turn to take the wheel as he looks to continue his strong form at the world-famous Mount Panorama circuit – having recently taken round honours in the Dunlop Series Super3 class earlier this month.

Ahead of his category debut, McLeod was looking forward to returning to the mountain and will look to keep that winning mentality.

“Brad Neill, my car owner from Super3 asked me if I wanted to race at Bathurst again in his FG Falcon, I couldn’t say no, more laps at Bathurst is always a positive.” McLeod said.

“It is an FG Falcon that Shane van Gisbergen drove, it was his car and Brad also drove it in the Kumho Series when he raced as well.

“You always want to win at Bathurst, I will always go there with that mentality and see how it goes and what we can come away with.”

This won’t be the first time McLeod has featured at the Shannons SpeedSeries this year, having competed with MARC Cars Australia at Sandown International Raceway last month, where he also secured a well-earned round win.

The Supercheap Auto Bathurst International will be the fifth and final round of the Kumho Series in 2023, with another young gun in Jude Bargwanna eager to wrap up the title race in his rookie year.

The New South Welshman currently holds a 50-point advantage over the valiant Jim Pollicina, while Jamie Tilley remains in contention a further 39 points back.

The exciting category will take to the track for three races across the weekend, with Races 2 and 3 broadcast live, ad-break free and on-demand on Stan Sport.

Cameron McLeod will gear up for Kumho V8 Touring Car Series at Supercheap Auto Bathurst International on 10-12 November.
