SUPERCHEAP AUTO BATHURST INTERNATIONAL – A RACE FOR BATHURST
The second running of Mount Panorama’s newest motorsport event, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International, is now just days away from seeing the green flag wave.
First held in 2022 following two years of pandemic-induced cancellations, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International returns bigger, better and more international as an official round of the Kumho TCR World Tour – the elite, global competition for touring car racing being hosted in eight countries across four continents.
An international contingent of four teams and 11 drivers will descend on Mount Panorama to battle a field of high-calibre Australian talent, in an event doubling as the final round of the Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series.
But while the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International now holds greater significance on the world stage, its commitment to engaging and benefitting the local Bathurst community has only increased in 2023.
Bathurst locals will enjoy access to a variety of free and affordable event experiences throughout this week, while event promoter Australian Racing Group (ARG) has engaged numerous Bathurst-based suppliers to deliver the three-day festival of motorsport.
Before competitive track sessions begin, Thursday’s Circuit to City convoy will see the full field of TCR racecars and their drivers tour from Mount Panorama to Kings Parade via the city’s public streets.
Running from 4:00pm-6:00pm to allow Bathurst locals of all ages to attend, Circuit to City is a free event offering race fans the chance to view the international and Australian TCR racecars up close and meet the drivers.
Thanks to long-time Bathurst event and community supporter, Supercheap Auto, entry to the first day of track action on Friday, November 10, is free to all residents in the 2795 postcode as part of Supercheap Auto Community Day.
As part of Supercheap Auto Community Day, the event’s title partner will also be offering young race fans with subsidised entry to Motorsport Australia’s First Gear driver training initiative, offering 12-17 year-olds the opportunity to learn the basics of vehicle control on a safe, specially designed trackside course under the tutelage of expert instructors.
In keeping with ARG’s commitment to ensure the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International is affordable and accessible for all race fans to attend, ticket prices are among the cheapest of any major motorsport event at Bathurst with a full event ticket (Friday to Sunday) just $75 for Adults and $65 for eligible Concession patrons.
Race day tickets on Saturday and Sunday are $45 each day for Adults and $35 each day for eligible Concession patrons. Kids under 12 receive free entry on all days, with all ticketholders receiving free paddock access.
Where possible, the event has chosen Bathurst businesses to deliver services to the event in areas including food vending, furniture supply and printing while a range of local music acts will be showcased throughout the event, with Advance Australia Fair to be performed prior to Sunday’s final TCR race by Bathurst local, Amelia Washbrook.
The highly-credentialed driver line-up at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International includes no less than five world title holders in touring car racing, as well as homegrown stars such as Supercars front-runner Will Brown, Bathurst 1000 podium finisher Tony D’Alberto and TCR aces Bailey Sweeny, Josh Buchan and Aaron Cameron.
