Declan Fraser scores maiden Super3 pole position at Bathurst
Declan Fraser will start as the first Super3 driver in the opening race of the combined Super2/3 field at Mount Panorama this afternoon.
Fraser set the fastest time in his Ford Falcon around the 6.213km circuit, recording a time of 2:10.3727s, to score the Gulf Western Oil pole position award.
Fraser’s time beat fellow Falcon driver Jaylyn Robotham by over 0.3s, whose car was repaired overnight after an incident in practice yesterday.
It will be a Ford 1-2-3 on the grid, with Jon McCorkindale claiming third place ahead of the first Commodore runner in Brendan Strong.
Only eight Super3 cars made the qualifying session, with the Mark Tracey Falcon missing the session due to a mechanical issue. Despite not setting a qualifying time, Tracey has been cleared by the stewards to compete in the first race.
The opening 16-lap Super2 and Super3 race will start at 3:05pm AEDT, with another qualifying and race to be held tomorrow.
