McCorkindale takes first Super3 Bathurst pole
Jon McCorkindale has prevailed in a tight fight during the first qualifying session of the 2021 Dunlop Super3 Series campaign.
The Dial before you dig-backed Ford Falcon driver saved his best to last to punch out a 2m09.3630s on his last flying lap to grab his first series pole award.
Though his final margin was ultimately substantial, the session was something of an arm-wrestle between the Green Falcon, Blake Fardell’s Commodore and Image Racing’s impressive rookie, Reef McCarthy.
All three had a share of provisional pole throughout the 20-minute session, McCorkindale needing to save his best for last in an effort to grab the top spot.
Fardell (2m10.4769s) and McCarthy (2m10.8917s) will start second and third, respectively, while Nash Morris was fourth of the Super3 runners.
Brendan Strong edged out Michael Anderson for the Super3 Cup pole award with Jason Foley and Jason Gomersall next.
Race 1 of the 2021 Dunlop Super3 Series will start at 1:40pm AEDT, and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, Kayo Sports and Channel 7.
