Bargwanna recovers to go back-to-back
Jude Bargwanna will have a clean sweep on his mind after dominating the second Kumho V8 Touring Car Series race at Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton.
Whilst the series leader finished eight seconds ahead of his nearest competitor in MoComm Motorsports Comms Jim Pollicina, the latter had the lead of the race in the opening stages after Bargwanna’s Ford Falcon FG was slow off the line.
The 18-year-old dropped to fourth place and quickly looked to make up some ground immediately pressuring Rightway Industrial entry Tony Auddino, while Phillip Island race winner Jamie Tilley sat comfortably in second.
It wasn’t long before the Notlaw Racing product had Bargwanna’s red and black Falcon on his tail, unable to defend the position and drop to third as a result.
Meanwhile, Pollicina started to fall back towards the chasing group, surrendering the position to the eventual race winner and finding himself under pressure from a desperate Tilley in his Ford Falcon FG.
Pollicina survived a late charge to cross the line in second place ahead of Tilley, while Tony Evangelou was able to make it back-to-back fourth place finishes ahead of the struggling Auddino in the Ford Falcon BF.
Bargwanna may not have won in similar fashion to the first outing, but it was a dominant performance nonetheless as he claims his second win of the weekend.
The Kumho V8 Touring Car series will return for its third and final outing of Hi-Tec Oils Race Winton at 1:15pm AEST.
