“Im pretty happy with that said McAdam post-race of his round win.

“We had results that were consistent all weekend good starts and I was able to get out front.

“We bagged a fair few points this weekend but were not going to slacken off; were going to push very hard all the way to the end of Eastern Creek.

501 Performance pilot Tony Evangelou finished second overall for the round in his teams ex-Jason Bright CAT/FPR Falcon.

The Melbourne-based veteran finished second in todays earlier race but was unable to hold off Rullo for the spot in the final longer race and crossed the line third.

“These young guys are making it harder and harder said the former V8 Supercar Development Series regular.

“Im pretty happy with second though. I could see Alex coming in that last race and on the second last lap I got a bit sideways and we went side-by-side for a few corners but didnt touch one it was my highlight of the weekend.

Rullo was forced to mount a major comeback in the last race after finishing last in Race 2. The MW Motorsport pilot ran wide exiting Southern Loop (turn two) and couldnt stop his ex-FPR Falcon from heading off through the grass and gravel trap.

He was able to resume at the tail of the field and finished last one lap behind after a pit stop to clear away debris from his front spoiler.

He started Race 3 fifth but worked his way through to finish second by races end.

Kumho Series rookie Steven Devjak finished fourth for the weekend and won the Privateer class for teams that run their own cars privately rather than drive for already-established teams in the Professional class.

“We battled hard all weekend and the hard work finally paid off said the former Improved Production driver.

“It will be a very long drive home tonight but a very pleasant one.

Image Racings Michael Hector finished fifth for the weekend in the same car James Courtney took to second place in the 2007 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Hector was the king of starts this weekend regularly rocketing away from the line when the lights went out. He had a solid weekend finishing fifth and sixth in todays two races.

Elsewhere there were problems for various other drivers.

Poco Racings Steve Briffa was forced to take evasive action in the opening stages of Race 3 after contact between Jim Pollicina and Chris Smerdon sent the latters Falcon spinning and into retirement with its front spoiler knocked off.

Briffa was forced off the road through the grass and resumed further down the 14-car pack eventually finishing ninth in Race 3 and sixth overall for the round.

The top 10 for the round was made up of McAdam Evangelou Rullo Devjak Hector Briffa Pollicina Jake Kostecki (who stormed through the field in Race 2 to go from 12^th to sixth) Lyle Kearns and John Vergotis.

Television coverage of this weekends round of the Kumho Series from Phillip Island will be shown on SBS Speedweek program on Sunday October 4 at 2.00pm.

The final round of the Kunho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series will be held at Sydney Motorsport Park on November 14/15 as part of the Shannons Nationals.
