Morris leads the way in Super 3 practice

IN BOTH practice sessions leading into round four the Dunlop Super3 Series it was series leader Nash Morris in the Triple 8 ex-DJR Ford Falcon FG who showed the way.

By the end of both outings he had the top spot ahead of Image Racing’s Reef McCarthy (FG) and Blake Fardell (Holden Commodore VE).

RESULTS: Practice, Sydney Motorsport Park

Morris was at ease throughout Practice 1 but left it to late in P2 to snare the top spot from McCarthy.

Fourth in the first session (and overall) was 22-year-old Elly Morrow in her debut in a BJR Commodore. But her second session was circumvented with a crash at Turn 11 on the sighting lap.

Michael Anderson had his ex-FPR – and former Development Series winning FG from 2015 – fifth and after the break was fourth before a big lose at Turn 1.

He was forced to sit out the remainder due to a damaged front splitter which meant he could not improve on his fifth placing overall.

Most of the field were faster in the later timed period with Jim Pollicina (VE) sixth ahead of David Murphy (FG), Steven Page (VE), and Jason Foley and Tony Auddino in their older spec Falcon BFs.

They were followed by the VEs Gary Collins, James Masterton and debutant Paul Boschert who had fuel related problems throughout the day in his recently purchased ex-PMM Holden.

Earlier in the day, Brad Jones Racing rookie Elly Morrow ended the opening practice session in an impressive fourth position, however suffered damage early in the later hitout and failed to complete a timed lap.

The Dunlop Super3 field will return tomorrow for a 10-minute qualifying session ahead of the first of two races this weekend.
