Brad Vaughan sweeps Thursday action at Bathurst
It was a shortened second practice session for round five of the Dunlop Super 3s, with Brad Vaughan quickest at a 2 minutes 10.5089 seconds in the Anderson Motorsport ex-FPR Ford Falcon FG.
Just 0.009 seconds behind was Kai Allen. The Eggleston Motorsport Holden Commodore VE driver bounced back from losing a wheel in the earlier session.
RESULTS: Practice
This session was off to an inauspicious start when David Murphy spun his retro liveried Triple Eight/Vodafone Ford Falcon FG on the out-lap. The incident occurred at the top of the Cutting, and he managed to go through a driveway and return to the track with just minimal damage.
Not long after Brendan Strong ploughed his Holden Commodore VE heavily into the turn two Griffin Bend tyre wall as James Masterton ran off at Murrays Corner and nudged the tyres.
The session was stopped to make barrier repairs and was barely underway again when a Super 2 car bunkered in the Chase. The session was then declared.
Despite the incident for Strong he was third of the Super 3s ahead of Ray Hislop (FG), Jim Pollicina (VE) and Tony Auddino (Falcon BF).
Then came Garry Hills and Steve Page in their Holdens in front of the Fords piloted by Jarred Danaher and Jason Gomersall.
Masterton’s early time had him ahead of Paul Boschert (Commodore), Murphy and Gary Collins (VE).
The Super3 field returns tomorrow for qualifying and the first of two races this weekend, with sessions to be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo, while the race will also be shown live on free-to-air on the Seven Network.
